The Cowlitz Tribe of Washington and the Bureau of Indian Affairs released the draft environmental impact statement for its proposed casino.
The tribe, recognized through the Bureau of Indian Affairs process in 2000, is seeking to acquire 152 acres for an initial reservation. The tribe is proceeding under an exemption for newly recognized tribes in the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act.
The BIA is taking comments on the draft for 90 days. The document can be viewed at http://www.cowlitz.org and http://analyticalcorp.com
