Pokagon Band emotional as groundbreaking nears

Tracking casino proposals across Indian Country.
After six years of waiting, the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians will finally break ground on the tribe's first casino.

Tribal Secretary Judy Winchester says the event will be emotional. “It’ll be hard to believe. We've lost a lot of people and for the groundbreaking, just doing it, the reality will finally hit,” Winchester told WNDU-TV.

The tribe will break ground on June 3. The facility is expected to take 14 to 18 months to complete.
