The Narragansett Tribe and Harrah's Entertainment hope Rhode Island voters will support their casino proposal because it will provide tax relief.
Just exactly what kind of relief is at issue. The tribe's ad campaign says the casino will lead to lower property taxes but critics say the proposal doesn't contain specific details and that it is impossible to guarantee lower rates.
The casino question appears on the November ballot. It asks voters to modify the state constitution to authorize a casino in the town of West Warwick.
The tribe and Harrah's have set up a web site, LetRIDecide.Org, to promote the project.
