The Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation and the Yurok Tribe announced new compacts with California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) on Wednesday.
The Sycuan Band will be able to offer up to 5,000 slot machines at its casino. The Yurok Tribe will install the first 99 machines at its casino. In exchange, both tribes will share a portion of revenues with the state.
So far, Schwarzenegger signed deals with the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians,
the Morongo Band of Mission Indians, the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians and the Pechanga Band of Luiseno Indians. The Agua Caliente compact has been rejected by lawmakers and the other compacts have until today to be ratified.
