Narragansett Tribe sued by former partner

The Narragansett Tribe of Rhode Island was sued by a former gaming partner in state court.

Capital Gaming International was working with the tribe to open a casino. The tribe later went with Boyd Gaming before joining with Harrah’s Entertainment, its current partner.

The shareholders the now-defunct Capital Gaming say they loaned the tribe $9.9 million. They want the tribe to pay up now that the tribe is receiving -- over its objection -- modest payments from a racino in the state.

The tribe and Harrah's are seeking to amend the state constitution to build a casino in the town of West Warwick. The issue is on the November ballot.
