Lytton Band finds success with Class II machines

printer friendly
The Lytton Band of Pomo Indians is enjoying success with a Class II-only casino in the Bay Area.

The tribe installed nearly 1000 Class II machines after its Class III gaming compact failed to gain approval in the Legislature. The games play a little slower and aren't as flashy as slot machines but that hasn't deterred customers from flocking to Casino San Pablo.

The results show up in the revenues. Although the tribe doesn't release figures, the casino made at least $113 million this past year, based on the 7.5 percent it shares with the city of San Pablo.

"I'm happy where we are now, given the fact that it provides revenue to my tribe, who had really been in a very bad situation," Chairwoman Margie Mejia told The Sacramento Bee. "Now, we're able to, with the revenues from Casino San Pablo, implement programs that meet some of those needs."
