The Navajo Nation Council will consider legislation to create a gaming enterprise during a special session that starts today.
If approved, the Navajo Gaming Enterprise will handle all the tribe's gaming business. Legislation 0431-06 would create a board of directors and a chief executive officer for the enterprise.
The tribe is seeking to build several casinos in New Mexico and Arizona. The first one is supposed to be located in Navajo, Arizona, near Interstate 40, but land issues have held up construction.
