New Mexico tribes expand their gaming facilities

printer friendly
New Mexico's gaming tribes are expanding their gaming facilities in hopes of bringing in more customers.

Laguna Pueblo just broke ground on a 150-room hotel next to the Route 66 Casino. Last month, Isleta Pueblo broke ground on a 201-room hotel and convention center.

Sandia Pueblo recently opened a 228-room hotel and golf resort at its casino near Albuquerque. Further north, Ohkay Owingeh is building a convention center.

"Diversifying into other businesses is what's happening," Ohkay Owingeh Gov. Joe Garcia told The Albuquerque Tribune.

The tribes share a percentage of Class III revenues with the state.
