Shingle Springs Band signs $190M deal with county

The Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians signed a $190 million agreement with El Dorado County, California, that clears the way for the tribe's casino.

The tribe agreed to pay the county $190 million over 20 years. In return, the county will drop its opposition to the $200 million casino and hotel project.

The tribe will pay for a highway interchange and other improvements to address traffic concerns raised by the county. Other money is set aside for law enforcement.

Some local residents still oppose the project but the tribe feels the agreement with the county clears a major hurdle.
