Chippewa Cree Tribe delays opening of casino

printer friendly
The Chippewa Cree Tribe of Montana has delayed the grand opening of the new Northern Winz Casino.

The $16 million casino was set to open on New Year's. But it's been pushed back to late January due to weather, construction delays and other concerns.

When the casino opens, the tribe plans to serve liquor. But council member Jonathan Windy Boy, who also serves as a state legislator, says he is opposed to the idea.

"I'm 25 years alcohol-free," Windy Boy told The Great Falls Tribune. "I'm opposed and I'll always be opposed and it's not a dead issue with me personally."
