Man blames Miccosukee casino for loss of part of toe

A Florida man is suing the federal government in federal court, saying he lost a part of his toe during an unlawful arrest and assault at the casino owned by the Miccosukee Tribe.

Robert Henin, 89, was at Miccosukee Resort & Gaming in June 2008 when he was arrested for trespassing. He apparently had been told not to visit the casino due to prior incidents.

During his arrest and subsequent detainment, Henin said a tribal police officer closed a jail cell door on his foot, causing him to lose a toe. He also said officers denied him medication.

Henin filed a lawsuit in state court but it was thrown out by a judge. So he is asking the Interior Department for $250,000 in compensation.
