Democratic lawmakers in Connecticut continue to support a bill that bans smoking at tribal casinos.
Three committees in the state House have passed the bill. Each time, Democrats have voted to advance it.
Republicans have mostly voted against the bill. They are siding with the Mohegan Tribe and the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, who say the measure threatens their sovereignty and gaming revenues.
The Mohegans have reached an agreement with Gov. M. Jodi Rell (R) to limit smoking at Mohegan Sun. The Pequots plan to do the same at Foxwoods Resort Casino.
