Pojoaque Pueblo faces lawsuit in federal court for gaming deal

Pojoaque Pueblo in New Mexico is being sued in federal court over a gaming agreement with a consulting company.

The tribe's court ruled that the tribe illegally terminated the agreement with The Fine Point Group. The company is now seeking monetary damages from tribal officials, including Gov. George Rivera.

"With the Tribal Court having ruled the contract termination illegal under tribal law and reinstated it retroactive to the dates on which the actions were taken, it is now time to hold those individuals accountable who perpetuated that conduct," Dennis J. Whittlesey, an attorney for The Fine Point Group, said in a press release.

Rivera has said the tribe will appeal the tribal court decision to the tribal council. Documents about the case are available at www.thefinepointgroup.com/buffalothunder.aspx.
