Members of the Shinnecock Nation of New York voted to remove four leaders from office who reportedly angered the tribe's gaming partner.

The tribe ousted Lance Gumbs and Gordell Wright from the board of trustees and removed Barre Hamp and Phil Brown from the gaming authority. Additionally, council member Charles Randall was barred from representing the tribe in any capacity.

The move came after Gateway Casino Resorts complained that the officials were trying to negotiate a deal for a gaming project in violation of an exclusivity provision. The officials are disputing their removal from office.
