Voters in Maryland authorize expansion for commercial gaming

Voters in Maryland approved Question 7 on Tuesday, authorizing an expansion of commercial gaming facilities.

Three slot machine sites will be allowed to stay open 24 hours a day. They will also be able to add dice and card games.

But the bigger expansion comes with the authorization of a full-fledged casino in Prince George's County. Sites being mentioned include the National Harbor, a hotel, convention and entertainment venue not far from the nation's capitol.

Maryland finally recognized some of its tribes earlier this year. None, however, have gained federal recognition.
