The Semiahmoo First Nation of British Columbia wants to be consulted about a proposed $100 million casino, citing potential damage to its aboriginal territory.

The casino in Surrey is located near the band's reserve. The land has been used for hunting and fishing and may have been used as a burial ground.

"We are hoping for the opportunity to negotiate about this land in the future, but it seems like (the propos-al) is going to happen," council member Joanne Charles told The Province.
