The Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians and California Gov. Jerry Brown (D) reached a new Class III gaming compact.

The deal eases the revenue sharing rate. The tribe will only have to pay 15 percent of slot machine earnings, down from 25 percent in the current deal.

The deal still allows the tribe to add more slot machines at the Red Hawk Casino. But the maximum will be 3,000, instead of 3,000.

The casino hasn't been performing as well as expected so the new compact addresses financial issues facing the tribe. It still must be approved by state lawmakers and by the Bureau of Indian Affairs.

"This amended compact is critical to improving the position of the tribe's Red Hawk Casino and benefits the rribe, the casino and our dedicated team members," Chairman Nicholas H. Fonseca said in a press release. "Gov. Brown recognizes that this amended compact is good for all of us and ensures the long-term financial prosperity of the tribe and its casino."

A copy of the new deal can be found on the governor's web site.
