The Picayune Rancheria of Chukchansi Indians filed a lawsuit aimed at stopping the North Fork Rancheria of Mono Indians from opening an off-reservation casino.

The lawsuit was filed in state court. The defendants include Gov. Jerry Brown (D), who approved the off-reservation casino under the two-part determination provisions of the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act.

Among other claims, the Chukchansi Tribe says Brown failed to comply with state environmental laws.
