Some lawmakers in Idaho are raising concerns about a bill that would allow the Nez Perce Tribe to sell liquor at its casino.

The tribe already sells beer and wine at the Clearwater River Casino. As part of a $16 million expansion, the tribe wants to offer liquor at the facility.

“I know the tribe has struggled with the issue of alcoholism, and I don't see how this legislation will help them deal with that,” said Rep. Brent Crane (R), The Lewiston Tribune reported.

The bill creates a new exception in state liquor law that applies to tribal hotel facilities with at least 50 rooms and at least 50,000 square-feet of space.
