New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) said gaming talks with the Seneca Nation are going "nowhere."
The tribe has withheld an estimated $600 million from the state due to a dispute over exclusivity provisions in the Class III gaming compact. The two parties are in arbitration but Cuomo said he wasn't optimistic about the outcome.
"We have had conversations with the Senecas," Cuomo said on the Capitol Pressroom radio program on Thursday. "We’re basically nowhere with the Senecas, so we plan to bid out Western New York."
Cuomo plans to place a non-Indian casino in the tribe's territory if the dispute isn't resolved.
