Editorial: Oklahoma tribes continue 'impressive' gaming streak

Newspaper praises Oklahoma tribes for boosting the economy with their gaming facilities:
What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, or so the saying goes.

Well, what's happening on the economic front with Indian gaming in Oklahoma, is pretty much staying in Oklahoma.

Indian gaming indisputably has become one of the state's leading economic generators, benefitting not only the tribes but their communities, the schools their children attend, the highways they drive, the infrastructure they use and the health-care facilities they visit.

Even nontribal members feel the flush.

Remarkably, this explosive growth has occurred over the decade since certain types of casino-style gambling were legalized in Oklahoma.

With nearly $2 billion in gross revenues, the Tulsa region, which includes eastern Oklahoma and Kansas, registered 6.6 percent revenue growth from 2011 to 2012. That makes the Tulsa region the fastest-growing region nationally.

Very impressive.
