The St. Regis Mohawk Tribe is once again sharing gaming revenues with communities in New York.
The tribe sent $1.8 million each to two counties on Tuesday. The money came after the tribe and Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) ended a dispute over exclusivity provisions in the Class III gaming compact.
“We are in urgent need of these dollars,” Franklin County Manager Thomas Leitz told The Watertown Daily Times.
The tribe agreed to share $30 million in back payments, or about half of what was owed to the state. The two counties that received $1.8 million will receive a total of $7.5 million each.
