Newspaper urges Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) to approve Menominee Nation off-reservation casino:
There is too much on the table in terms of state revenue, local jobs and creation of a destination tourism, convention and gaming center for our economically challenged corner of the state to simply walk away. The Menominee casino would dust off the old Dairyland Greyhound track and give it new life as a gaming and entertainment complex operated by Hard Rock International, an internationally known entertainment operation. It could generate up to 5,000 new and temporary jobs in an area where unemployment tops 8 percent. It would boost state revenues by about $35 million and add about $19 million per year to the revenues of the City of Kenosha, Kenosha County and area schools.Get the Story:
