Tribes in Arizona have shared more than $1 billion in gaming revenues with the state over the last 11 years.

Since 2004, when the revenues were first recorded, tribes have contributed $442 million to education, $221 million to emergency and trauma services, $105 million to local governments, $90 million in regulatory fees, $63 million to tourism, $63 million to wildlife conservation and $18 million to address problem gambling. The cumulative figures were released by the Arizona Department of Gaming.

“Reaching the $1 billion mark is clearly significant; sharing revenues sets our industry apart," Valerie Spicer, the executive director of the Arizona Indian Gaming Association, said in a press release. "Arizonans who need trauma care or have children in school, own businesses that rely on tourism, or revel in the natural beauty of our state, all benefit directly from Tribal gaming. It’s why we say, ‘It’s the Tribal in Tribal Gaming that makes the difference.’”

AIGA has launched Benefiting Arizona to highlight the effects of the Indian gaming industry in the state.
