Ohio governor Taft won't resign after being indicted
Thursday, August 18, 2005

Ohio Gov. Bob Taft (R), an opponent of tribal land claims in the state, doesn't plan on resigning after being indicted on criminal ethics charges for failing to report 52 political donations.

Taft has refused to sit down with the Ottawa Tribe and the Eastern Shawnee Tribe. The tribes, both based in Oklahoma, have filed separate claims to land in Ohio.

All the charges Taft faces are misdemeanors.
