Data shows high rates of Native violence in Farmington

Native Americans are more likely to be victims of murder, rape and kidnapping in Farmington, New Mexico, according to statistics released by the Farmington Police Department.

From 2000 to 2006, 11 out of 17 murder victims were Native. All the suspects were Native as well.

In the last six years, 107 out of 309 reported rapes were committed against Natives. Sixty-five percent of the suspects were Native.

Of 209 kidnapping cases during the same time, more than half involved Natives. Almost every suspect was Native.

Farmington is a border town near the Navajo Nation.
