Puyallup Tribe signs agreement over Tacoma port

The
Puyallup Tribe of Washington has signed an agreement to develop the
Port of Tacoma.
The tribe will work with the Port and
SSA Marine, the largest terminal operator in the U.S., to expand operations in Tacoma. The tribe is buying three parcels from the port worth a total of $11.8 million.
All three parties will work together to expand a waterway at the port, where the tribe owns land. The agreement dates back to the Puyallup Indian Land Claims Settlement Agreement of 1989, officials said in a
press release.
