Historic Lower Brule building destroyed by fire

A 26-year-old man was arrested in connection with a fire that destroyed the former Indian agency for the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe of South Dakota.

The Lower Brule Agency House, which dates to 1876, served the reservation until it was moved to its current location in Oacoma. It was gutted by the early Wednesday morning fire.

The tribe wanted to buy the house and move it to the reservation. The couple that owned the house said teens repeatedly vandalized it.
