Grand Traverse Band election finally settled
Derek Bailey will finally be able to take over as chairman of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians of Michigan.

Bailey, 36, was elected in a special election in September. But challenges kept him from taking office.

Now that all of the challenges have been rejected, Bailey is ready to lead the tribe. "I am very happy that this process is over, and I definitely look forward to being sworn in as the next tribal chairman," he told The Traverse City Record-Eagle.
