Editorial: Tanana Chiefs Conference offers help
"Tanana Chiefs Conference’s offer of temporary space for the Stone Soup Cafe is a generous and welcome contribution to the operation, which provides more than 1,000 meals per week to needy people in Fairbanks.

Jerry Isaac, TCC president, said Chief David Salmon Tribal Hall can’t take on the job permanently because it is booked with other events. Offering a temporary home, though, gives the community more time to come up with that permanent space.

Isaac noted that many of the cafe’s clients are Alaska Natives, which makes his organization’s involvement a natural fit. However, a natural fit doesn’t necessarily bring any funding or authority for such a program. So no one should assume that Tanana Chiefs could or should simply leap into the work."
