University to bill Ward Churchill for lawsuit costs
The University of Colorado plans to bill controversial former professor Ward Churchill for the costs of defending his wrongful termination lawsuit.

The university hasn't come up with a figure but expects the bill will come to more than $10,000. The money will cover deposition transcripts, out-of-state travel, witness fees and other expenses, an attorney said.

Churchill, whose Indian ancestry has been repeatedly questioned, sued the university after he was fired for academic misconduct. A jury said he was fired for political reasons but those findings were overturned by a judge who also ordered Churchill to pay costs in the case.

Churchill is expected to appeal.
