Recall vote against Little Traverse Bay Bands chairman fails
Members of the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians of Michigan voted to retain Ken Harrington as chairman.

According to preliminary results, 441 tribal members voted to keep Harrington while 373 voted to remove him. “I’m good — I can breath now,” Harrington told The Petoskey News-Review in response. “I’m just thankful for all the voters who voted for me; I promise to do a good job for them.”

Harrington has been in office a little over six months. He has clashed with tribal council members and elders over financial, employment and freedom of press issues.

Vice chairman Dexter McNamara, another newcomer, was also targeted in the recall but the tribal court stopped the election.
