Dispute over Little Traverse Bay Bands recall still in tribal court
The vice chairman of the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians of Michigan could still face a recall vote if a tribal court case doesn't go his way.

Dexter McNamara won an injunction that prevented the election from taking place. A judge determined that there weren't enough signatures on the recall petition.

That was over two months ago. But the case was never resolved and the tribal election board contends it could still certify the petition.

According to the tribal constitution, 20 percent of registered voters must sign a recall petition in order for it to be valid. The election board verified 171 signatures on the petition against McNamara.

Based on 856 people who voted in the last tribal election, 171 comes to 19.97663 percent. McNamara said that's not enough to meet the 20 percent requirement.
