Tule River Tribe wins BIA approval of its land-into-trust application

The Bureau of Indian Affairs has approved a land-into-trust application for the Tule River Tribe of California.

The tribe acquired 40 acres near the Porterville Airport. The tribe entered into an agreement with the city regarding development of the land.

“All city development that occurs on the 40 acres must be necessitated by the agreement, and I think we’ve been consistent on that and that was the agreement’s purpose, city manager John Lollis told The Porterville Recorder.
