The Fort Peck Tribes of Montana charged a 20-year-old man in connection with the disappearance of a four-year-old girl on the reservation.

John “Billy” Lieba II is charged with kidnapping, aggravated sexual assault of a child and attempted murder, according to news reports. He allegedly kidnapped the girl from a park on Wolf Point on Friday. She wasn't found until 38 hours later.

"She's an incredibly brave little girl and I can't begin to imagine the strength it took to survive such a nightmarish ordeal," Roosevelt County Sheriff Jason Frederick said on Facebook on Tuesday.

Lieba pleaded not guilty, according to news reports. He could also face charges in federal court because the crimes occurred in Indian Country.
