Tribes in Washington, Oregon and Idaho are awaiting their shares of the $940 million Ramah Navajo contract support costs settlement.

The settlement resolves shortfalls in self-determination contracts at the Bureau of Indian Affairs. The tribes in the three states will receive $204 million.

“When you get a settlement like this, it’s kind of like a little shot in the arm. It gives an opportunity to tackle some things that you want to get done and just never had the resources [to do],” Ron Allen, the chairman of the Jamestown S'Klallam Tribe, told KPLU. His tribe will receive $4.35 million.

A document on rncsettlement.com lists the amounts going to the 699 tribes and tribal organizations that are a part of the case. The beneficiaries will share in $854.6 million, the amount remaining after $79.9 million in attorney fees and $5.5 million in other costs are deducted.
