Trust fund settlement goes before Congress again

Settlement of the Indian trust fund case will be the topic of a Congressional hearing before the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs tomorrow.
Sens. Ben Nighthorse Campbell (R-Colo.) and Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii) have urged resolution of the seven-year-old Cobell case, They say all affected parties, including tribes, should be involved in discussions.
The House Resources Committee held a hearing July 9 on settlement issues. The meeting resulted in the removal of an appropriations bill rider that would have ended the case.
