Trust fund settlement goes before Congress again
Tuesday, July 29, 2003

Settlement of the Indian trust fund case will be the topic of a Congressional hearing before the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs tomorrow.

Sens. Ben Nighthorse Campbell (R-Colo.) and Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii) have urged resolution of the seven-year-old Cobell case, They say all affected parties, including tribes, should be involved in discussions.

The House Resources Committee held a hearing July 9 on settlement issues. The meeting resulted in the removal of an appropriations bill rider that would have ended the case.

Tomorrow's hearing will take place at 10 a.m. A live video feed can be found at http://indian.senate.gov. An audio only feed can be found at http://www.capitolhearings.org
