Wednesday, July 30, 2003

A 30-year-old painting by an Australian Aboriginal artist was sold for US$78,145 at a Sotheby's auction in Australia.

JoAnne Walker bought "Water and Bush Tucker Dreaming" by Johnny Warangkula Tjupurrula for less than $100. When she found out there was a growing market for Aboriginal art, she contacted Sotheby's.
