N.M. tribe weighs lawsuit for damage to lake
Thursday, September 11, 2003

Nambe Pueblo in New Mexico is considering filing a lawsuit against the U.S. Forest Service for damage to the tribe's lake.

A hydrologist hired by the Bureau of Indian Affairs said the damage to the man-made Nambe Lake was caused by a recent fire. Tribal officials believe the Forest Service was lax in fighting the fire. They have been forced to close the area to recreation and hunting, losing out on revenue.
