Tuesday, September 30, 2003

Washington tribes with treaty rights are upset that a county allowed a fisherman to make $2.5 million off the sale of geoduck clams.

The tribes say half of fisherman Doug McRae's take belongs to them. The county admits it granted a lease for the operation by mistake and went to court to invalidate it.

Geoduck are considered a delicacy in Asia. One clam can sell for $2,500.
