Kaw Nation drops lawsuit against former officials
Thursday, October 2, 2003

The Kaw Nation of Oklahoma will not pursue an appeal of a lawsuit against former tribal officials.

The tribe sued former housing director Marilyn Springer and former chairwoman Wanda Stone. Springer was accused of misusing federal funds to build a house for her daughter and niece, who were also named in the suit, and was accused of misspending tribal money.

The 10th Circuit Court of Appeals on August 25 dismissed the case, saying the tribe did not have a right to bring the suit.
