Navajo grass roots organizations to meet
Wednesday, October 8, 2003

A coalition of grass roots organizations on the Navajo Nation will hold several forums Friday and Saturday.

The groups are organized under the name Din Bidzill, which means Navajo Strength. Leader Norman Brown says Navajos are fed up with the tribe's government, including the council and President Joe Shirley Jr.

The groups are calling for reform of the tribal government and are opposed to uranium mining. Other issues include human rights on the reservation and protection of sacred sites on and off the reservation.
