Nev. tribe seeks trust status for health center land
Monday, November 3, 2003

The Reno-Sparks Indian Colony of Nevada won't start work on a new health center until the Bureau of Indian Affairs takes land for the project into trust.

With the cost of the center rising to $12 million, tribal officials say they need to save money any way they can. The tribe will be able to save money on property taxes if the 3-acre site is placed into trust.

The original cost estimate for the 14,000-square-foot clinic was $8.6 million.
