Utah University aims $1M grant at Indian teachers
Tuesday, November 18, 2003

The University of Utah will use a $1 million grant from the Department of Education to recruit more Native Americans into the teaching profession.

Last summer, 12 students received scholarships to the school's American Indian Teacher Training Program. The grant will provide funds for 12 more students.

The school will reach out to the Utes, Navajos, Goshutes, Paiutes and Western Shoshone tribes in Utah, and others in the region, to attract talent.
