Calif. AG not probing alleged compact violation

printer friendly
California's attorney general Bill Lockyer says he has not been asked to investigate an alleged violation of the state's tribal-state gaming compact by the Dry Creek Band of Pomo Indians.

Critics accuse the tribe of opening its casino and starting work on a garage. They asked Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) to investigate but Lockyer, a Democrat, said there has been no request.

During the Gray Davis administration, Lockyer did meet with the tribe to discuss some of the local complaints. But he said the compact does not force the tribe to cooperate.
