A Republican lawmaker in Wisconsin says Gov. Jim Doyle (D) should shut down the Ho-Chunk Nation's casinos because the tribe isn't sharing more revenues with the state.
State Rep. Dean Kaufert claims the tribe owes $60 million under a new compact signed with Doyle. He says the tribe should pay at least $8.3 million a year under an old compact.
But the tribe doesn't plan on making either payment because it isn't offering new games authorized by the new agreement. The compact was struck down by the state Supreme Court and the tribe is currently negotiating a new deal.
