The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut released a poll that shows support for a commercial casino in the Catskills region of New York.

Nine proposals have been submitted for the Catskills, a region about 90 minutes north of New York City. Some of them are closer to the city, in Orange County, but the tribe's poll says voters prefer a casino in Sullivan County, where the economy remains depressed.

“We have been trying to get casinos in the Catskills before casinos were legal in Atlantic City and we were doing it because we wanted it to stop what is happening in the Catskills from what is actually happening," Mitchell Etess, the CEO of the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority, told Mid-Hudson News Network. "This is kind of the last chance."

The tribe wants to build a $600 million casino at the former Concord Resort Hotel in Sullivan County.
