HHS holds tribal consultation session in Denver
Wednesday, June 8, 2005

The Department of Health and Human Services is holding a consultation session with more than 100 tribal leaders in Denver, Colorado, today and tomorrow.

Representatives of 32 tribes from Colorado, Utah, Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota and South Dakota will attend the two-day meeting. Among other issues, they will discuss diabetes, suicide, Medicare, Medicaid, obesity and substance abuse.

The third annual consultation gives tribes a chance to voice their complaints and air their concerns to federal and state health officials. HHS has been holding similar sessions across the country.

The meeting is being held in Denver at 888 19th Street in the Environmental Protection Agency's conference rooms on the second floor.
