Woman won't give research to Connecticut tribe
Thursday, July 21, 2005

A woman who has collected years of research in the hometown of the Schaghticoke Tribal Nation is refusing to give information to the tribe.

Francelia C. Johnson has said she may have genealogical data on the tribe, based on a reservation in Kent, Connecticut. The information could help the tribe make its case for federal recognition.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs is reconsidering the tribe's status and is going to accept more evidence from the tribe. A final decision is expected in September.
