Ute Reservation the 'murder capital of Colorado'

The homicide rate on the Ute Mountain Ute Reservation in Colorado is 25 times higher than the rate for the state's biggest cities.
This year alone, five people have been killed on the reservation, home to about 2,000 people. That puts the murder rate at 25 per 100,000, about five times the national rate and six times the state rate.
The reservation is "the murder capital of Colorado," said U.S. Attorney Troy Eid, The Denver Rocky Mountain News reported.
The high rate is attributed to the lack of law enforcement and the increased use of methamphetamine. There aren't enough tribal or federal officials to deal with the crime.
The Southern Ute Reservation also has a murder rate higher than the state.
